Evelyn Zarraga is an employment defense attorney at Grant Shenon Almaraz, where she represents employers throughout California in complex wage-and-hour litigation, including class actions and claims brought under the California Private Attorney General Act (PAGA).
With a strong foundation in applied mathematics and data analysis, Evelyn brings a forensic, data-driven approach to employment litigation. She regularly conducts comprehensive payroll and timekeeping audits, evaluates liability exposure, quantifies damages, and develops strategic defenses to class certification and representative actions. Her analytical methodology allows employers to clearly understand risk and make informed decisions during litigation and settlement negotiations.
In addition to defending employers in active disputes, Evelyn advises businesses on proactive compliance strategies designed to identify vulnerabilities, correct deficiencies, and reduce the risk of future litigation under California wage-and-hour laws.
Evelyn earned her Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics with a Specialization in Computing from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her Juris Doctor from Albany Law School of Union University. Prior to joining Grant Shenon Almaraz, she served as lead defense counsel for complex class and representative actions at a boutique law firm. Earlier in her career, her practice included business litigation, including handling corporate and partnership disputes, banking and financial institution litigation, commercial real estate matters, creditor bankruptcy representation, and collections.
Before entering the legal profession, Evelyn worked in technical and data-intensive roles, including serving as the primary developer and administrator of an interactive fusion materials database at UCLA and managing the digitization and storage of court administration records for the Marion Superior Court in Indiana. These experiences inform her advanced proficiency in electronic discovery and data analysis.
Evelyn is fluent in Spanish and is dedicated to protecting and advocating for employers facing high-stakes wage-and-hour and class action exposure.
